# The Tide — aquarium asset provenance

Verified October 11, 2026. These assets were downloaded through the signed-in Sketchfab download UI, after checking author, commercial-use license, formats and size. Attribution stays in source and the standalone CREDITS.html; there is no credits panel inside the scene.

Adaptation: geometry decimated to approximately 63K triangles, existing UVs retained, opaque photographs encoded as JPEG at quality 83. Scaled/placed as three formations sharing meshes/textures, with tank lighting and fog. Original preserved on Desktop/3d-rooms-and-props/aquarium-reef-source.glb.

Adaptation: original geometry/UVs retained, linear animation sampled at every fourth source key including the last key, diffuse materials converted from older specular/glossiness to supported metallic/roughness, unnecessary emissive/gloss maps omitted, opaque maps encoded as high-quality JPEG; transparency maps resized to 512 px. Three schools have independent skeletons and phases while sharing geometry/textures. Playback slowed; physically separated from the dry gallery. Original preserved as aquarium-fish-school.glb in the Desktop asset folder.

Authored work: curved acrylic vault, structural ribs, opaque rear enclosure, dry gallery deck, sill/threshold details, observation ledge, brass inlay sliding portal and lighting. Editable source: aquarium-room.blend and build-room.py. Runtime tank, lighting, particles, restrained caustic simulation and isolated window projection: aquarium-room.js. This is a simulated aquarium using animated 3D marine assets, not a live camera feed.

## Delivery
The large downloaded originals remain outside the deployed repository. Only optimized GLBs are loaded on demand when approaching/opening The Tide. Skeleton animation stops while the room is hidden; GPU resources are shared across repeated reefs and fish schools. The entry asset is small and independent of tank downloads. Existing First Light music and saved ensemble controls are unchanged.
